A Great Story Found in my Family's History

Today I was talking to my mom and she told me about my Great, Great, Great grandfather Isaac Burres Hatch. She thought he had been a horse thief and that he had been shot and killed by one of Brigham Young's body guards. I was interested in reading more about my great, great, great, grandfather so I googled him.
I found that my Great, Great, Great grandfather Isaac Burres Hatch wasn't a horse thief, but that he was shot in the back and killed by a supposed friend of Brigham Young's, Bill Hickman. The histories say my great, great, great grandfather had some dealings with Hickman and that he was aware that Hickman had a pair of nice horses that did not belong to him. It was supposed that Isaac Hatch knew too much of Hickman's dealings and would not be a part of them.
Hickman had invited my grandfather to ride into Salt Lake with him. At one point they had to ride single file along a creek. My great, great, great grandfather had gone ahead of Hickman and just as my grandfather's horse came up out of the water a shot rang out. Hickman called to my grandfather, asking him if he had been shot. Isaac turned around to see smoke coming from Hickman's gun. Hickman took Isaac home and told the family he had been shot by a stray bullet. Hickman visited my grandfather every day until the day he died. My great, great, great, grandfather lived for about three weeks after receiving a bullet to his back. When my grandfather regained consciousness, he told everyone Hickman had shot him.
Hickman was an outlaw who claimed he had been given orders from Brigham Young to shoot Isaac Burres Hatch. Bill Hickman shot and killed five men, and never denied killing any of them. My great, great, great grandfather was one of those men.
