New Winter Fun Started Today!

I'm super excited about my new cross country skiis! I can say I may have looked like an idiot who didn't know what she was doing today, but tomorrow will be better. :)

Me getting back to my car after having my skis out on the trial. I couldn't find the release button to detatch my boot from the ski-Not to worry I know how to do that now! :)

Homemade Christmas Wreath

My apartment is looking like Christmas with my decorated tree and my homemade wreath hung on the door. I just finished my wreath. It took more ornaments than I had thought it would.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

I decorated my Christmas tree today. Don't look to close at my tree topper...you'll be able to tell it was tied by a Kim. Oh and that sticker on the tree stand-that's added decoration :)

Nebraska Trip in a Nutshell

On Friday morning we left early and traveled all the way from Jackson, WY to Lincoln, NE. We arrived in Lincoln at about 8:15 that night. The place wasn't very clean. We stayed two nights and all I could think was: I'd much rather be camping!

Friday night I dived behind the TV to retrieve Abbie's chap stick that had rolled back there. In the process I became the lucky benefactor of someone else's lost dime....that dime started the pool to purchase the allergy medication that I needed to be able to breathe in that place.

My nephews' practicing their cheers before the big game! :)

The big game action and all the red!

The goat we saw on our way to see Mt. Rushmore. He sure was a grumpy little bugger. :)

Being copilot on this trip was tough business. You try carrying on the brunt of the conversation....it's libel to wear you out too! I'm glad to be back. :)

"I Expect That Table To Be Spread!"

Chelsea and I were expecting to find the table set when we got to the top....after all we got a late start. It was a beautiful hike to the top of Table Mountain, but they must have forgot we were coming because there was no spread up there.

A few pictures from our hike:

Static Peak

Today was another grand adventure....to make it a perfect day off! We hiked to the top of Static Peak. I would have to say this hike was more intense than the 20 mile hike last week. We gained about 5000 ft in elevation and hiked about  18-19 miles. There weren't ripe huckleberries along the trail to keep me going this time....though we did find some ripe wild raspberries and they did a pretty good job. :)

About the time I stopped seeing wild raspberries I began to think I might not make it up the mountain, but I eventually did!

Here are a few photos from the hike:

Nothing Beats a Twenty Mile Day Hike: On One's Day Off

The first place we stopped was at Holly Lake....if you don't count the huckleberries we were picking and eating all along the trail. :) We climbed about 2500 feet from String Lake and had hiked about seven miles to reach Holly Lake. It was a great lake to take a swim and we did just that. :)
This picture was taken up on top of the Paintbrush Divide at over 10,000 feet.
As we began our decent from the divide down into Lake Solitude.
This was taken before we hit the canyon floor and lake Solitude.
The wildflowers were absolutely beautiful the whole way and I'd be lying if I said they didn't take my breath away. :)
Lake Solitude were we stopped for one final swim. The water was much colder here than it was up at Holly Lake.
Matt over-looking Jenny Lake-about three miles from the end of our twenty mile day hike.
