Food for Thought

In RS today, I was struck by a comment a dear friend of mine made. The lesson was on Joseph Smith. She pointed out a phrase I had not pondered upon much in the past..."It seems as though the adversary was aware, at an early period of my life, that I was destined to prove a disturber and an annoyer of his kingdom; else why should the powers of darkness combine against me?"

When my friend pointed this phrase out during the lesson, I realized that if we ever feel weighed down or like the powers of darkness are combined against us it is because the adersary knows our capabilities and our potential. Life will have challenges and plenty of difficulties for us all, but when life gives us a challenge and we stumble we can take comfort in knowing we have power to overcome all obstacles. We have the power to make the adversary quake. We have the power to do good and to change the world!

So true, Kim. I have considered this type of thought before, but always in terms of seeing others face adversities in their lives and seeing how it puts them to the test, according to their potentials. It's easier for me to consider it for OTHER people, but I tend to not see my own potential, so I just think I am flawed and THAT'S why I have the troubles I do. It's hard for me to consider that maybe MY potential is just more than I realize. I just hope I can be as strong as you, Kim! You are such a wonderful person and I have seen your tremendous strength shine through time and time again. I feel honored to know you, Kim! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :D
